Project Sovereign

A free, open-source, distributed AI network that runs on any device — no expensive GPUs required.

What is this?

Project Sovereign turns the idle CPU on your phone, laptop, or PC into part of a global AI network. Anyone on earth can participate. No one controls it. No one can shut it off.

The goal is simple: democratize AI and accelerate medical research — particularly cancer — by making compute accessible to everyone, not just companies that can afford NVIDIA hardware.

Why it matters

  • No GPU required — runs on any CPU including smartphones
  • No central server — pure peer-to-peer, no off switch
  • Medical breakthroughs automatically published as Prior Art — cannot be patented
  • Free forever — MIT License

How it works

  • BitNet 1.58b ternary weights convert GPU math into simple CPU addition
  • libp2p gossipsub networking connects nodes globally in under 2 seconds
  • Federated learning on mobile edge devices — your phone trains AI while charging
  • Zero-knowledge proofs protect sensitive medical data privacy
  • Automatic Prior Art broadcast to Arweave makes discoveries permanently free

Project Status

Specification complete. Implementation in progress. All help is welcomed. Not an active build yet looking for Rust contributors.

License

MIT — free for the world, forever.
